Magazine articles and newspaper clippings collected by Tremaine, senior vice-president of United Press International. The bulk of the collection is a series of articles by Robert Brown in the "Editor and Publisher" magazine, 1976-1979, mostly concerning criticisms of the Western press made by Soviet and Third World UNESCO delegates, and the attempt by these delegates in 1978 to draft a document on international press rights whose language would allow governments more control over foreign press correspondents. File includes a newspaper clipping with the text of that document, as well as other magazine articles, issues of "UPI Reporter," and an open letter to Inter-American Press Association members, all of which primarily concern this UNESCO affair and other problems of press rights. There are also articles on the history of UPI and the crucial role Tremaine played in the reporting of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.
